Biden Signs Executive Order to Help Women Travel for Abortions

On Wednesday President Joe Biden signed an executive order making it easier for women to travel to obtain abortions and avoid federal discrimination. This order comes as another protective measure of women’s rights in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra must now consider this order and what it would entail. Waivers would be created for out of state residents to travel to a state that will legally perform an abortion with the cost of travel and the procedure covered by Medicaid.

Biden says there is still more work to be done to ensure the right to an abortion but is confident he and Kamala Harris can get it done.
