Beyoncé to Change ‘Ableist’ Lyric in ‘Renaissance’

Singer Beyoncé, as announced that she will be changing a lyric from one of her songs on her new album, “Renaissance.” The word “spaz” is used in her new song “Heated,” and many have criticized her for using the lyric.

According to Insider, fans, as well as activists, have said the word is a derogatory term used towards people with disabilities, specifically Cerebral Palsy. A representative of Beyoncé told Insider that “the word, not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced” in a statement.
