Mega Millions has $1.3 Billion Winner

The famous Mega Millions Jackpot has finally been won, but the winner is still a mystery. Winning ticket of the $1.34 billion pot was sold at a Speedway gas station in Des Plaines, Illinois. The pot was initially $1.2 billion, but spiked due to last minute purchases.

The winner of the jackpot has not yet stepped forward, but even if they do their identity may remain a mystery. Illinois is one of the few states that allows some of the winners the option to stay anonymous.

Lottery winners in Illinois have 12 months to claim their prize from the date of the drawing, but only 60 days to declare if they want it in a lump sum or annual payments.
