Kentucky Suffers from Flash Flooding

In eastern Kentucky, many have suffered through flash flooding this past week. According to CNN, at least 8 people have died from the flooding, and many have lost their homes and other public buildings from damage.

On Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear announced that this was “one of the most significant, deadly floods in the commonwealth’s history.” In Eastern Kentucky, it was reported that more than 9 inches of rain occurred from Wednesday morning to Thursday. According to CNN, Gov. Beshear “activated the National Guard to help with rescues and recovery and declared an emergency to expedite resources to help” early Thursday morning. Although it is predicted that “dry weather” will move into eastern Kentucky by this Saturday, many have already lost their homes, cars, and even family members due to the immense amount of flooding.
