Biden Administration Offers Arms Dealer in Return for Britney Griner and Paul Whelan

On Wednesday, it was announced that the Biden Administration has offered a prisoner exchange for wrongfully detained Britney Griner and Paul Whelan. According to the Insider, the Biden Administration has “offered to release notorious arms dealer Viktor Bout to bring the basketball superstar and ex-Marine back to the States.”

It has been reported that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, has spoken with Russian Forgein Minister Lavrov “for the first time since the war began.” Blinken said both “governments have communicated repeatedly and directly on that proposal,” and he hopes a resolution can be found soon. Griner has been held in Russian prison since February of this year, and Whelan has been held since December of 2018.
