Mega Millions Reaches $1 Billion

The Mega Millions lottery pot has just topped over $1 billion after nobody had a matching 6 numbers on Tuesday when the pot was just $810 million. Rob Burnette, a financial advisor at Outlook Financial Center, has a few pointers for whoever the lucky winner of this $1 billion will be.

Burnette encourages the lucky winner to keep quiet about the match, and to try to stay anonymous if possible. He suggests coming up with a plan to not draw attention.

This large prize is not the main lottery though. The $1.2 billion pot is only for those who choose the annuity option and pay over a course of 30 years. The regular pot for the Mega Millions lottery is $602 million, which you can enter by paying in cash. The chances of winning the Mega Millions is 1 in 303 million.
