Noah Lyles Sets New US Record for 200 Meters

Sprinter Noah Lyles has set a new US Record for 200 Meters. According to ESPN, Lyles’ time was 19.31 seconds.

Lyles’ time beat out a 26 year old record of 19.32 seconds, held previously by Michael Johnson. ESPN reported that at first, Lyles’ time was shown as 19.32 seconds, but then changed to 19.31. Lyles’ told ESPN, “I didn’t want to see ’32,’ I didn’t want to share a record. Nobody wants to share a record. I think even Michael Johnson doesn’t want to share a record. So I was just begging it to change.”. Lyles’ time is now the third fastest in the world, behind Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt.
