Juan Soto Wins the Home Run Derby

Juan Soto, MLB player for the Washington Nationals won his first Home Run Derby on Monday night. The star beat out Julio Rodriguez, rookie for the Seattle Mariners, with a final score of 19-18. 

Soto hit a total of 53 home runs, beating Jose Ramirez 18-17 in the first round and Albert Pujols 16-15 to reach the final against Rodriguez. When describing how he felt after the win Soto told reporters that it “feels amazing. It feels tiring.”

Following his win Soto receives a prize of $1m as well as an accomplishment added to his professional record with the Nationals, as his career with the team may be coming to an end. “I’m a champion, and I will be a champion for the Nationals,” he stated.
