NASA Says a Huge Asteroid is Headed Toward Earth
NASA has just confirmed that a massive asteroid is heading towards Earth. This asteroid comes just a day after a plane sized asteroid narrowly missed Earth. This one is said to be double the size of the Statue of Liberty, or a 50 story skyscraper.
The asteroid, named 2022 KY4, is supposed to also narrowly miss Earth. Astronomers and scientists are keeping a close eye on the rock to track any deviations from its path. The closest the asteroid is supposed to get to Earth was on July 17.
KY4 should pose no threat to Earth as long as it stays far away. It is currently 3.8 million miles away and is traveling at a speed of 16,900 mph. According to its travel pattern, the asteroid should not make a close pass at Earth again until May 2048.
