Cameron Smith Wins the British Open
28 year old Cameron Smith won the 150th British Open. Smith is the first Australian to hold this title at St. Andrew’s since Kel Nagle in 1960.
The young golfer chased down and passed expected winner Rory McIlroy. McIlroy was supposed to take the win to end his 8 year drought. Smith took the win finishing the tournament 20 under par.
He started the back nine with five straight birdies. Smith was able to pull out the victory over Cameron Young with one shot over Young’s 15 foot eagle putt on the final hole. Smith ended 268 holes at 20 under.
