LeBron James Faces Backlash After Brittney Griner Comments

NBA star LeBron James has been facing backlash after a comment he made on the talk show “The Shop” about WNBA star Brittney Griner. Griner has been stuck in Russia for over 130 days since she got arrested in a Moscow airport for possession of cannabis oil. Griner is awaiting trial, and the US government is allegedly doing all they can to help get her back home, but it appears that efforts are minimal.

James was speaking on the show, owned by his social media team, when the subject of Griner was brought up. Early into the conversation about Griner, James said “Now, how could she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even want to go back to America?’ “. He later took to Twitter to address the concerns about this comment.

James clarifies that he loves our country and was not trying to disrespect it at all, more so trying to justify how Griner must be feeling after being held in Russia for so long.
