Abortions Become Legal Again in Louisiana

A Louisiana state judge has just temporarily put a hold on the state’s abortion ban due to an impending trial. The hold was placed by Judge Donald Johnson on Tuesday, and will last until at least July 18 when a hearing is set to take place.

The Center for Reproductive Rights has asked the court in Baton Rouge to permanently block the abortion ban that is placed in the state. After the overturning of the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, states have now been handed the ability to decide their own abortion laws. Louisiana was one of many states to implement strict laws banning abortion, although this is the second time there has been a hold placed on the ban.
