Britney Griner Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges

After months of being held in a Russian detention, WNBA star Brittney Griner has just pleaded guilty to drug smuggling. Griner was walking through the Moscow airport when she was stopped by security for possession of two cartridges full of marijuana oil. The basketball star was then detained back in February and has been held there ever since.

Griner has been labeled as wrongfully detained and her legal team has been fighting hard to get her home. At an initial court appearance, Griner pleaded guilty, but confessed to the judge that there was no intent to break the law. Griner’s testimony will come at a later date, along with the court’s decision.
