R. Kelly Gets Taken Off Suicide Watch

After being convicted of 8 counts of sexual assault and trafficing resulting in a 30 year prison sentence, American Rapper R. Kelly was placed on suicide watch. This was a decision not favorable to Kelly, which lead to a lawsuit that he won, effectively taking him off suicide watch after a mental assessment.

The singer’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean claimed that his placement on suicide watch was cruel and unusual punishment, and there was no reason for him to be on it at all. Their lawsuit was against the prison Kelly was being kept at for his 30 year sentence. Kelly insists he never intended to commit suicide.
