FBI Adds Rujia Ignatova, “Cryptoqueen,” to their Top Ten Most Wanted

US Officials have announced the addition of German Rujia Ignatova, to the FBI’s ten most wanted list of fugitives. According to CNN Business, Ignatova, or “Cryptoqueen”, has been “accused of defrauding investors out of $4 billion by selling a fake cryptocurrency called OneCoin”.

Ignatova was charged in 2019 with what CNN Business reports with “eight counts including wire fraud and securities fraud for running the Bulgaria-based OneCoin Ltd as a pyramid scheme.”. Her company essentially influenced many in buying crypto currency that had no worth. Ignatova has been reported to not have been seen since 2017, where she disappeared after learning her American boyfriend was cooperating with the FBI. She flew to Greece and disappeared. The FBI is rewarding $100,000 for turning Ignatova in, or for giving information pertaining to her whereabouts leading to her arrest.
