Colorado Wins the Stanley Cup Final 2-1
The National Hockey League season has finally come to an end with the Colorado Avalanche taking home the victory and the prized Stanley Cup. The Avalanche played 6 games against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the finals for the title. On Sunday the Avalanche were able to pull out a 2-1 win, which was the last one they needed in order to secure their championship in the 4-2 round against the Lightning.
The Colorado Avalanche have not always been Stanley Cup material, however. Just in 2016, the Avalanche were the worst team in the NHL. Over the course of a few years and a very intelligent strategy by coach Jared Bednar and general manager Joe Sakic, the Avalanche were able to make some trades and build their dream team that eventually started to win more games than they lost.
After years of hard work, the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2001.
