New Jersey’s First MonkeyPox Case is Reported

Jersey City, New Jersey has just confirmed its first case of monkeypox on June 20. Jersey City is one of the largest and most populated cities in New Jersey, so it comes as a shock to citizens that this case has been localized to just one person.

The New Jersey Department of Health has been working closely with the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention to ensure this case remains singular and does not spread or worsen. New Jersey officials reassure citizens telling them they are at a very low risk for catching the disease.

The symptoms for monkeypox are very similar to those of small pox, and the NJDOP has alerted all medical facilities to keep an eye out for these symptoms.
