Agent of WNBA Star Britney Griner Calls Upon the President to “Bring her home”

WNBA and USA basketball star Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia since February 2022, and is not being allowed back on American soil. She was stopped at a Russian airport in Moscow for containing vape cartridges allegedly containing cannabis oil. Griner could face up to ten years in prison if convicted of this crime.

Her detention in Russia has been extended three times already, with the most recent one lasting until early July. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has successfully brought attention to this case and has had Griner labeled as being “wrongfully detained”.

The Phoenix Mercury’s agent spoke about how she believes this is all a political stunt that the president and vice president are pulling, and Griner unfortunately is the pawn. She encourages the president and vice president to act with urgency to free Griner from
her imprisonment.
