New York Suspends Gas Tax for the Remainder of 2022 Starting Wednesday

Gas prices in New York are amongst the highest in the country, and state lawmakers
are doing all they can to relieve some of the pressure from this impediment as much as
they can. This holiday from the state tax will last until the end of the year, where gas
prices will hopefully have decreased.

Previously, the state’s gas tax added roughly $0.48 every gallon, which adds up very
quickly when you have a larger tank or have to fill up frequently. By removing the state
gas tax, consumers can save around $0.16 per gallon. State Senator John Mannion
posted on Twitter that this removal will save New York citizens around $600 million.
