‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Takes Over Box Office Setting New Record
Actor Tom Cruise has just had the largest movie launch of his career with the release of
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ over Memorial Day Weekend. Only four days after its premier, ‘Top
Gun: Maverick’ has made a whopping $156 million domestically at the box office.
The film was set to release long ago, but was delayed due to the corona virus and the
theaters being shut down. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is a sequel to the 1986 film ‘Top Gun’,
and main character Pete “Maverick” Mitchell was played by actor Tom Cruise in both
movies.
This movie has surpassed ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ as the biggest
movie opening over Memorial Day Weekend, with the film bringing in roughly $153
million. Predictions arise that ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ will surpass $275 million in sales
globally.
