Gilbert Gottfried Passes Away From Illness

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried passed away at age 67 on April 12. Gottfried’s cause of death was recurrent ventricular tachycardia caused by myotonic dystrophy type ll.

Gottfried’s disease is an inherited muscular dystrophy, and is characterized by a prolonged muscle tensing, and muscle stiffness and weakness. The symptoms for this disease can vary even amongst family members.

Gottfried was a renowned comedian, often called “the comedian’s comedian”. He was known for putting aside political views or any other clashing opinions in his work while delivering jokes.

Gilbert Gottfried’s family made a statement about his passing, and encouraged others to “please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor”.
