Epic Games receives $2 billion Investment

On April 11th, American video game software developer Epic Games, announced
that they will be receiving 2 billion dollars of investment funds from companies including
Sony and KIRKBI. According to epicgames.com, the company hopes to use the funds
from the investment to “advance the company’s vision to build the metaverse and
support its continued growth”.

All three of the companies hold a strong focus on creating a place for kids to
have fun and explore alternate versions of reality. CEO of KIRKBI Søren Thorup
Sørensen said to epicgames.com that their intention is that a “proportion of our
investments will be focused on trends we believe will impact the future world that we
and our children will live in”. The investment is currently working towards closing stages,
and Epic Games is hopeful in their future towards the metaverse.
