Recent Online Holiday Sales Poised To Break Record
Cyber Monday was predicted to be the biggest online shopping day ever for the US, accumulating around $11.4 billion due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Adobe Analytics estimated this year’s Thanksgiving weekend promotions would garner between $10.8 billion and $11.4 billion. Although the numbers were down from an initial estimate of as much as $12.7 billion, they still surpassed this year’s Black Friday figure of $9 billion, which marked one of the most successful Black Friday online sales results to date.
According to Taylor Schreiner, director of Adobe Digital Insights, due to the recent pandemic, consumers are likely to keep up the spending too. “While COVID-19, the elections and uncertainty around stimulus packages impacted consumer shopping behaviors and made this an unprecedented year in e-commerce, we expect to see continued, record-breaking e-commerce sales from now until Christmas,” Schreiner said in a statement following the release of the online holiday sales results.
