Biden to Announce Running Mate This Week
Former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is gearing up to announce his running mate. This week, he has put together a staff for his upcoming vice-presidential pick. Biden has now interviewed all of his top picks and says he is ready to announce mid-week. The choice is completely up to him as a four-person panel put in charge of screening potential picks has now disbanded. Top contenders include Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Gov. Whitmer is slated to speak at the Democratic Convention next Monday but could get flexed to the vice president slot set for next Wednesday if she is the pick. Other strong contenders include Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Representatives Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Val Demings (D-Fla.), and New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.
