Chipotle Launches Sustainable Clothing Line
The successful Mexican fast casual restaurant is now entering a new industry: clothing. Noticing a huge amount of wasted avocado pits, Chipotle Mexican Grill has found new use for them. All of their t-shirts, sweatshirts and tote bags will be dyed with the guacamole by-product. Chipotle says that they were disposing of 300 million pits a year. Each article of clothing will require five avocado pits or about 5 orders of guac.
Chipotle’s new clothing line will include leggings, blankets, hats, jean jackets, onesies, gym bags, and sweatshirts. The chain will also focus on products that are size inclusive and gender-neutral All items will be made with organic cotton. They aim to reduce waste and water usage in production.
