Dr. Fauci Will Throw First Pitch in Opening Day Game
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leading U.S. expert on infectious disease, will help kick off the 2020 Major League Baseball season with the ceremonious first pitch at the opening game in Washington D.C. The Nationals will host the New York Yankees in the first MLB game since the coronavirus pandemic delayed the season startup. Fauci, who is a dedicated fan of the World Series Champion Nationals team, accepted the honor of their invitation to throw the first pitch to start the game. The team recently tweeted that Fauci has been a real champion since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and also during the course of his prominent career. They also stated it’s befitting to honor Fauci for the season kick off as they return to defend their championship title. The league’s spring training, which normally begins in March, was delayed due to the virus outbreak and just resumed this month. The game will begin at 7 pm on Thursday.
