FL Sets New Record For Coronavirus Cases
With 15,299 new cases on Sunday, the state of Florida had the largest single increase in coronavirus cases since the U.S. started reporting cases. According to Reuters, if Florida was a country, it would rank 4th in the world for single day increases in infections. The rate of positive testing has also increased dramatically. The Florida governor has still refused to issue a mandatory mask order in the state. Florida has been aggressive in reopening the state, opening many parts in May, despite expert’s warnings. Many of the famed theme parks in Orlando have reopened, with the Walt Disney parks implementing phased openings just this past Saturday. The U.S. overall has surpassed the 3 million case count. President Donald Trump was finally seen wearing a mask this weekend while visiting a medical facility. Prior to this, he had long resisted wearing masks.
