Disney Theme Parks Prepare for Phased Reopening

With plans for a phased reopening, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is preparing to welcome guests this weekend. Since closing in March, Animal Kingdom Park and Magic Kingdom will open on Saturday. Epcot Center and Disney’s Hollywood studios will follow on July 15th. Some of Disney’s employees have asked Disney to delay the openings, and signed a petition due to Florida’s recent surge of coronavirus cases. Disney officials stated strict safety protocols are being put in place, including an increase in disinfecting common areas, so visitors can enjoy the park “responsibly.” The safety measures also include limiting the number of park attendees as well as checking temperatures at the entrance gate. Cast members and guests above the age of 2 are required to wear masks. No new park entrance tickets are being sold at this time. Disney is only honoring tickets purchased prior to the March shutdown, as well as requiring advanced reservations – even for annual pass holders.
