Fauci and CDC Chief Testify
Leading U.S. infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, to testify, along with CDC Director Robert Redfield and other top US health officials, on the response by the Trump Administration to the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Fauci spoke before lawmakers in Washington, and advised that health experts will be doing more, not less, testing for the coronavirus. The testimony is in response to the recent claim that Donald Trump requested slowing down testing for COVID-19, in an attempt to downplay the impact of the pandemic in the U.S. Dr. Fauci’s testimony to top officials from the CDC, FDA and Department of Health and Human Services, reinforces the fact that more testing is needed to get an accurate assessment of the number of positive cases. Fauci further disclosed, despite the Trump Administration’s departure from the World Health Organization, his team is working on a daily basis with WHO officials and interacting daily in a very serious and meaningful way.
