Costco Eliminates Half Sheet Cakes
Devoted Costco shoppers are facing yet another change. The company has decided to eliminate their iconic half sheet cakes, and has quietly removed them from stores over the past month. These iconic cakes have been the centerpiece of birthday and graduation celebrations for many years. In an effort to limit personal contact, and allow more social distancing space, Costco has reduced some department services. To address customer outrage, the company has announced it will be selling 10-inch round cakes along with a variety of other baked goods. The decision coincides with current COVID-19 guidelines and the recommendation by US health officials to prohibit and avoid large gatherings, since the half sheet cakes can feed up to 50 people. The 10-inch round cake serves only about a dozen portions.
